Despite a quiet weekend at the box office, it still became quite eventful.
Variety is reporting that Justice League reached $600 million at the global box office. The film took $9.6 million, taking the #2 spot at the weekend box office, and its domestic total rose to $212.1 million. Justice League has now become the 10th biggest movie of 2017.
Pixar’s Coco however took the top spot, earning $18.3 million and went on to win its third box office weekend in a row. Coco, along with The Hitman’s Bodyguard, Split, and Fate of the Furious are now the only films this year to hold #1 for this long.
Wonder clinched third with a solid haul of $8.5 million and crossing the $100 million mark globally. The film is a huge success for Lionsgate as Wonder was made on a $20 million budget.
A24’s expansion of James Franco’s bipoic The Disaster Artist took in a solid $6.4 million at 840 venues, up from 19 last weekend. That beat out the sixth weekend of Thor: Ragnarok with $6.3 million putting its domestic total above $300 million. The third Thor movie was a key factor in November’s box office staying ahead of the same month last year.
Overall, the box office ready’s itself for next weekend’s monumental debut of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The 9th Star Wars film is set to open to a gigantic $200 million+ total.
