John Boyega Says ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ will be an “All Out War”

The last chapter in the Star Wars sequel trilogy may not begin shooting until the summer but that has not stopped John Boyega, who plays ex-stormtrooper Finn, from discussing the highly anticipated sequel.

Via Star Wars News Net, Boyega spoke at the Awesome Con conference call where tackled various subjects including the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX. When asked about what he has scheduled for filming next, Boyega confirmed that for him, Star Wars: Episode IX is next on his schedule and briefly spoke about the film’s story:

“Next for me filming wise is Star Wars: Episode IX in July, and they’ve officially given us a note to start training soon. I’m going to take a holiday before that, because I think Episode IX you know, regardless of where the story goes, and I haven’t read it by the way, is going to be all out war so I know that I’m going to have to do all I can and train for that.”

This connects to Boyega’s earlier comments to ComingSoon, where he discussed JJ Abrams returning to the franchise to finish the trilogy he started:

“I think what’s fantastic is it feels like it’s coming back full circle. I don’t know nothing about the script, the story. I don’t know where Finn’s going, I don’t know where Rey is going, but definitely I feel this is the war to end all wars in this movie.”

Episode IX marks the end of the Star Wars sequel trilogy and if Boyega’s words are to be believed, it sounds like he and his castmates are gearing up for a rigorous filming experience as The First Order looks to wipe out the hardened Resistance once and for all. It will be a massive war that carries massive stakes and honestly, December 2019 cannot get here fast enough.

Star Wars: Episode IX opens in theatres on December 20, 2019
