Marvel Enlists Pinar Toprak to Compose the Score for ‘Captain Marvel’

Now this is huge. Today, Krypton composer Pinar Toprak took to Instagram to announce that she will be composing the music for the 21st entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel. Check out the post below!

Captain Marvel is Marvel Studios’ first female-fronted film, and Toprak will be the first woman to score a feature for the studio. Toprak, who is a protege of Hans Zimmer, has also worked on SyFy’s Superman prequel Krypton as well as the videogame Fortnite.

At a scoring session last month, news outlets were invited to witness Toprak compose a section of music. Vibrant strings were mixed with state of the art synths to create powerful action sequences. The compelling melodies evoked images of a fierce battle, and quickly retreated to softer, emotional notes for a more personal moment.

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.  Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The film stars Academy Award® winner Brie Larson (“Room,” “Kong: Skull Island”), Samuel L. Jackson (Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “The Hateful Eight”), Ben Mendelsohn (“Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Ready Player One”), Djimon Hounsou (“Blood Diamond,” Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy”), Lee Pace (“The Book of Henry,” Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy”), Lashana Lynch (“Brotherhood,” “Fast Girls”), Gemma Chan (“Humans,” “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”), Algenis Perez Soto (“Sambá,” “Sugar”), Rune Temte (“Eddie The Eagle,” “The Last Kingdom”), McKenna Grace (“I, Tonya,” “Gifted”), with Clark Gregg (“Live by Night,” “Marvel’s The Avengers”), and Jude Law (“Spy,” “The Grand Budapest Hotel”).

Captain Marvel flies into theatres on March 8, 2019.
