Josh Brolin Loves Playing Thanos and has No Plans of Slowing Down

Josh Brolin practically struck superhero gold in 2018. Not only did he play the heavily armed Cable in Deadpool 2, Brolin took on the role of one Marvel’s most fearsome villains, Thanos. In Avengers: Infinity War, the film presents Thanos as the “hero” of the film by making him the true star. Brolin has spoken positively about his time with Marvel and now, it seems that he is keen to return to the MCU, potentially even after 2019’s as-yet-untitled Avengers 4.

Brolin recently took part in an interview with Screenrant at the Sicario: Day of the Soldado press junket (stay tuned for our review) where he was asked about returning to the role of Thanos for future MCU films, including the recently announced Eternals film. On the topic, here is was Brolin had to say:

“You know what, I don’t know what the future brings and who knows, but [I] love the idea of something infinite like this. I’ve never been involved in sequels. The fact that we’ve done some of Avengers 2, oh sorry, Avengers 4 but Infinity War 2, I’m going back. I’m going to do more, and we’re going to do some re-shoots and all that. So, I’m excited about all that. I love the Russos. I love working on the Avengers. I didn’t think I was going to and I actually loved it. I didn’t even like it. I loved it. I like playing that character. It’s a Brando-esqe, Apocalyptic Now character and it’s fun, but you know, I don’t know. I don’t know what the future holds. I’ve been surprised my entire career so we’ll see.”

For his role as Thanos, Brolin received critical acclaim with some hailing him to be the best villain ever put to an MCU film. For Marvel, Brolin returning to the role would open a wide range of possibilities. Thanos appearing in other MCU films such as Eternals not only continues Marvel’s dedication to connecting all of their films, but it allows for more creative storytelling aspects for the character. Seeing Thanos interact with the cosmic side of the MCU – whether it be in an anti-hero or villain capacity – would be a treat to watch and Brolin seems ready to go on whatever Marvel project comes his way.

Avengers: Infinity War is in theatres everywhere now
