Not even a day after Collider came out with an exclusive report saying that all upcoming Star Wars anthology films have been put on hold, Lucasfilm is here to say otherwise.
The original report indicated that the films were being put on hold in order to put more focus on the upcoming Episode IX. ABC then reached out to Lucasfilm sources who characterized these reports that the spin-off films had been put on hold following Solo: A Star Wars Story underperforming at the box office as “inaccurate”. Their sources then added the following:
“Lucasfilm told ABC News there are still “multiple” Star Wars films currently in development that have not been officially announced. Those projects are moving forward separate from an already-announced Star Wars trilogy being overseen by “The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson and another series of movies from Game of Thrones producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.”
If this is indeed true, there’s a good chance that the rumored Obi-Wan film is still on track along with the proposed Boba Fett movie. It’s currently rumored that the film will shoot at the end of the year with the next Star Wars film going into production being next year’s Star Wars Episode IX which starts filming next month.
