First German Netflix Original Series ‘Dark’ Beings Season 2 Production

Today, Netflix announced that production on their hit German original series Dark has begun production on season 2. Check out the script images below!

The season will shooting eight new one-hour-episodes in and around Berlin. The new episodes of award-studded first German Netflix Original creatives Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese will add new characters and new time levels, both in the past and future. As for season 1, all episodes are written by Jantje Friese, directed by Baran bo Odar and produced by Wiedemann & Berg Television, with Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann as executive producers alongside Friese and Odar. New cast members include Sylvester Groth, Winfried Glatzeder and Sandra Borgmann that will complement the German ensemble around Louis Hofmann, Jördis Triebel, Lisa Vicari and Oliver Masucci.

Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, both graduates of the University of Television and Film Munich, have been working together since Odar’s directing debut The Silence. Their most recent feature film is Who Am I – No System Is Safe with Tom Schilling and Elyas M’Barek. The thriller was celebrated at the 2014 International Film Festival in Toronto and was critical and commercial success in Germany, awarded with three German Film Awards and the Bambi for Best German Film. Odar, who was included in the list of “Ten Directors to Watch” by Variety, made his Hollywood debut with Sleepless starring Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx, which premiered on March 9, 2017. DARK, the first German Netflix Original created by the duo and directed by Baran bo Odar, became a global hit and was awarded with seven prestigious Grimme Awards. Last week, the creative team closed the first European overall deal with Netflix, granting a long-running collaboration to develop new series and projects exclusively.
