Laura Dern in Talks to Star in Greta Gerwig’s ‘Little Women’

The cast list for Greta Gerwig’s Little Women adaptation continues to grow and becomes more impressive as more people are added.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Laura Dern is in talks to star in Little Women where she’ll be joining a cast that already includes Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, and Timothée Chalamet. There’s no confirmation yet as to which character Dern will be playing.

Both Gerwig and Dern are coming off of recent successes: Gerwig with her film Lady Bird as well as her role in Isle of Dogs and Dern with roles in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Twin Peaks, and Big Little Lies.

Little Women follows sisters Amy, Jo, Beth and Meg and their mother in Civil War-era Massachusetts as they navigate growing up, first loves and Christmas without their father.

Gerwig penned the screen adaptation of the novel, which was previously made into a 1994 feature, starring Winona Ryder, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon and Kirsten Dunst.

Amy Pascal will produce alongside Denise Di Novi and Robin Swicord. Andrea Giannetti will oversee the production for Columbia.
