Anthony Ramos, Hamilton alum and who recently appeared in A Star is Born, is already moving forward on his next project.
According to Variety, sources say that Ramos is in talks to star in the film adaptation of the infamous 2005 Broadway musical In The Heights. This would mean that Ramos would be teaming with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda once again.
Ramos began his work with Miranda during Hamilton, where he played the roles of John Laurens and Philip Hamilton. He’s currently co-starring in the upcoming police brutality drama Monsters and Men as well as the upcoming Godzilla project Godzilla: King of Monsters.
Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the music and lyrics and portrayed the lead role of Usnavi in the original Broadway production of In the Heights and will serve as a producer on the film adaptation alongside Anthony Bregman, Mara Jacobs, and Scott Sanders. Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu is set to direct and Quiara Alegria Hudes will be writing the film. In the Heights is set in the New York neighborhood of Washington Heights and follows a bodega owner who is closing his store and retiring to the Dominican Republic after inheriting his grandmother’s fortune.
In the Heights is set to release on June 26, 2020.
