It’s official: Star Wars Resistance will fight its way back on television in fall 2019.
StarWars.com has announced that Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the animated series Star Wars Resistance for a fall 2019 premiere.
Set prior to the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars Resistance follows Kazuda Xiono (“Kaz”), a young pilot recruited by the Resistance for a top-secret mission to spy on the growing threat of the First Order.
The series features a colorful and vibrant anime-inspired look, and has introduced many new heroes and villains to the saga as well as familiar ones. Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, both from the sequel Star Wars trilogy have both played roles in the first half of the series’ first season.
Also revealed today in advance of Star Wars Resistance‘s return on Sunday, January 13, is a thrilling mid-season trailer offering a sneak peek at what’s to come in the remainder of season one, with a major villain making his animated debut in the trailer. Check it out below!
Another animated Star Wars series will be returning later this year, with the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars debuting on Disney’s streaming service Disney+ reportedly as early as sometime this year.
