‘The Room’ Director Tommy Wiseau Announces his Next Film: ‘Big Shark’

Oh, hi Shark!

Tommy Wiseau, director of the beloved cult film, The Room, has announced his second directorial feature. New reports confirm that Tommy Wiseau is developing a new feature film called Big Shark.

This past weekend, Wiseau and frequent collaborator Greg Sestero attended a screening of The Room at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. Prior the to duo’s Q&A, a surprise teaser trailer for Wiseau’s next film was revealed. Filmfutter.com provided a description and a glance at the trailer footage:

“The teaser starts off with Patrick, played by Tommy Wiseau, who introduces his friends Tim (Isaiah LaBorde) and Georgie (Greg Sestero) to two women at a restaurant. In the next scene one of the women calls Sestero’s character a jerk and both slap him. His buddies laugh at him and he laughs it off. In the following scene they are walking back to their car when they see water at their feet running through the streets. After a cut they are already up to their hips in the water and in the background a large badly animated shark consumes its victim. After that the shark goes for the trio and they try to run away. The title card comes on, after which the shot of the CG shark swimming towards the camera and snapping is repeated multiple times.”

As reported by Film Futter, Wiseau detailed that the feature will be set in New Orleans and he was inspired by his time in the city. Although the full plot is still under wraps, Sestero noted that the movie is about three firefighters trying to save the world (from a big shark).

Wiseau concluded the announcement by saying that the current plan is to shoot the rest of the film and have it premiere at the Prince Charles Theatre in September.

Not that this really has to do with the story, but the news of Wiseau’s next film reminded me of this stellar Family Guy moment:
