Warner Bros. Taps David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to Pen ‘Aquaman’ Sequel

Following the news that WB is already in discussions to have James Wan return for the highly anticipated Aquaman sequel, another name has now been confirmed for the production team.

Frequent James Wan collaborator David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick has been tapped to write the Aquaman sequel, TheWrap has exclusively learned.

Johnson-McGoldrick co-wrote the first Aquaman with Will Beall based on a story by Geoff Johns.

The story does not note anything else other than James Wan and Peter Safran will both return as producers for the project.

Aquaman recently became the highest grossing DC Comics film ever, surpassing The Dark Knight Rises with a total box office haul of $1.1 billion+. The move to bring back Johnson-McGoldrick is expected as the film became Warner Bros’ most surprising critical and commercial success.

The news of Aquaman 2 also comes off the heels of the major announcement that WB has hired scribes Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to pen a horror-infused script centered on The Trench. The deadly amphibious creatures were seen attacking Arthur Curry and his love, Mera, in Aquaman. Wan and Safran will produce this film as well.
