It’s time to break bad once more but a new report suggest that people will be able to do it through Netflix and AMC.
Deadline is reporting that Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad movie is heading to both Netflix and AMC. Netflix currently owns the streaming rights to the original Breaking Bad series while AMC aired its entire 5 seasons. The biggest thing to note is that, contrary to previous reports, Netflix will receive the film first before it heads to AMC.
For Netflix and AMC to share the Breaking Bad follow-up is fitting as the two outlets share the credit for the success of the original series. Gilligan actually acknowledged the streamer’s contribution in his acceptance speech for the series’ first best drama series Emmy win in 2013.
“I think Netflix kept us on the air,” he said back then. “Not only are we standing up here, I don’t think our show would have even lasted beyond season two. … It’s a new era in television, and we’ve been very fortunate to reap the benefits.”
Very little is known about the film but it is rumored to focus on Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman after he (SPOILER) escapes captivity thanks to Walter White’s violent assistance. Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White/Heisenberg, has said that, if asked, he would return in a heartbeat.
The report ends with a rumor that the script is being shot as a feature though it has not been determined yet how it will air, as a film or cut into episodes.
