‘Barry’ Star Anthony Carrigan Cast in ‘Bill & Ted Face the Music’ As Main Villain

The third Bill & Ted film, Bill & Ted Face the Music, is slowly becoming a reality. Both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are involved, and now the project has finally found its antagonist in Barry‘s Anthony Carrigan.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Carrigan, who plays fan-favorite Noho Hank in HBO’s Barry, has joined Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in Bill & Ted Face the Music. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) is directing the movie and Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, the screenwriter duo behind the first two Bill & Ted movies, are penning the script. The cast already includes William Sadler, Samara Weaving, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi). The film is expected to begin shooting in New Orleans in July.

Details on Carrigan’s character are scarce but it has been confirmed that he will be the duo’s adversary. Scott Kroopf, the producer of the last two Bill & Ted films, is producing the new movie alongside Alex Lebovici and Steve Ponce. Steven Soderbergh, R. Scott Reid, John Ryan Jr., Scott Fischer, and John Santilli are all serving as executive producers.

The new story will once again focus on best-friends Bill and Ted who are now middle-aged and still have yet to find their place in rock and roll history. When a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can safe life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe, the pair set out on a new adventure.

Carrigan has appeared on shows such as Parenthood and The Flash as well as having a recurring role in Gotham. However, his most acclaimed role is as the deadly but friendly Chechen gangster known as NoHo Hank on Barry, which was recently renewed for a third season. He also just signed on opposite of Kevin Hart in the upcoming Sony dramedy, Fatherhood.

Orion Pictures, which distributed last two films in 1989 and 1991, will release Face the Music on Aug. 21, 2020.
