From the world of superheroes to the world of ghost fighting, Paul Rudd is set to star in yet another major franchise.
Variety is reporting that Paul Rudd, Marvel’s resident Ant-Man, has been cast in Sony’s upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. The film, directed by Jason Reitman, has also officially been titled Ghostbusters 2020, and will also star Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. Rudd is expected to play the teacher of Wolfhard and Grace’s characters.
Reitman, whose father Ivan Reitman directed the original Ghostbusters, co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan and plans to shoot the film later this summer. Ghostbusters 2020 is expected to hit theaters in summer of next year.
“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe,” said Jason Reitman in a statement to Variety.
Sigourney Weaver, Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray are all rumored to be reprising their roles from the original Ghostbusters as Dana Barrett, Raymond Stantz, and Peter Venkman respectively.
