The star of A Wrinkle in Time is set to teleport to the world of DC Comics.
In an exclusive report from The Wrap, Storm Reid is in talks to join James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. The original Wrap report said no deal was currently in place, but Hollywood Reporter released their story shortly after saying she has joined the cast.
Reid will play the role of Idris Elba’s mystery character’s daughter. Elba was originally tapped to play Deadshot (played by Will Smith in 2016’s Suicide Squad). In that film, Deadshot had a young daughter, who acted as the catalyst for his character arc. While Elba won’t be playing DC’s best sharpshooter, it will be interesting to see how his character compares to Deadshot.
Gunn’s installment sees Idris Elba, John Cena and David Dastmalchian star alongside returning actors Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis.
The project is gearing up for a September start with an Atlanta shooting location being eyed. The 2016 film, directed by David Ayer, shot in Toronto.
Reid broke through when she secured the lead in Disney’s high-flying adaptation of A Wrinkle in Time, directed by Ava DuVernay. She appeared in DuVernay’s acclaimed Netflix docu-drama When They See Us. She currently appears alongside Zendaya on HBO’s teen drama Euphoria.
