Yup… it’s back… and now it’s a murder mystery!
Netflix announced today that 13 Reasons Why season 3 will premiere on August 23. The season comes more than a year after the divided and controversial second season, which saw the show take a more shock value approach over fleshing out the story.
The streaming giant released the first teaser for the show, along with revealing the storyline: who killed Bryce Walker?
That’s right. Bryce is dead and there are questions surrounding his death, which will take the season in the direction of a murder mystery. Netflix released an official synopsis for the series as well:
“Eight months after preventing Tyler from committing an unthinkable act at Spring Fling, Clay, Tony, Jessica, Alex, Justin, and Zach find ways to shoulder the burden of the cover-up together while helping Tyler move toward recovery. But when the aftermath of a tumultuous Homecoming game culminates in the disappearance of a football player, and Clay finds himself under police scrutiny, it’s up to a shrewd outsider to steer the group through an investigation that threatens to lay bare everyone’s deepest secrets. The stakes are raised in this riveting third season of 13 Reasons Why, as the consequences of even the most well-intended actions can alter a life forever.”
The streaming giant also revealed that the series had been renewed for a fourth and final season, and that production was already underway. The final season will feature the core cast’s graduation from Liberty High.
