John Wick director Chad Stahelski is boarding the upcoming DC film Birds of Prey to help assist with new action sequences.
THR is reporting that Stahelski is taking an uncredited role to design and work on additional action scenes for the Margot Robbie headliner. He will oversee second unit photography for the film, which debuts in 2020.
Stahelski will work closely with director Cathy Yen, as they craft action sequences set to be filmed during a round of additional photography. Stahelski’s stunt company, 87 Eleven, has been working on the movie since production began.
Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), takes place after the events of Suicide Squad. Batman has disappeared, leaving Gotham City unprotected from crime, and Harley Quinn has left the Joker. When Cassandra Cain, a young girl, comes across a diamond belonging to crime lord Black Mask, Harley joins forces with Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to help protect her.
Margot Robbie reprises her role as Harley Quinn, and is joined by Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, and Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis / Black Mask. The film was written by Bumblebee scribe Christina Hodson.
