Although Fast and Furious 9 has already begun filming, director Justin Lin and Universal have tapped Michael Rooker as a last-minute addition for the star-studded cast list.
No description of Rooker’s character has been released yet, the only information we know is that his character’s name is Buddy.
Rooker will be starring alongside Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren.
Justin Lin will be directing the film with Dan Casey penning the screenplay. Casey will also be producing alongside Diesel.
Rooker is best known for his role as Yondu in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy films as well as his time as Merle on The Walking Dead. He had a small role in the most recent season of HBO’s True Detective and he can be seen next in Blumhouse’s Fantasy Island, and Amazon’s upcoming Dark Tower series.
Fast and Furious 9 is expected to release on May 22, 2020.
