Netflix continues to round out its cast for its upcoming adaptation of Cowboy Bebop, and the streamer has found its Julia.
Elena Satine, known for starring in Fox’s The Gifted, and Street Angel has officially been cast as Julia. Netflix released a description for the character as well:
“With a sultry beauty and a voice to die for, Julia is the dream-like object of Spike Spiegel’s desire. She struggles to survive in a violent world.”
In the original anime, Julia is a beautiful and mysterious woman from Spike’s past. Initially Vicious’ girlfriend and a Syndicate member herself, she and Spike started an affair that led to Spike offering to abandon the Syndicate and elope with her, despite the fact that the Syndicate punishes desertion with death.
Julia’s inclusion in the live-action series indicates that we will be getting flashbacks for Spike Spiegel. What remains to be seen is how big of role Satine has in this new take on the classic anime.
Satine joins a cast that also includes John Cho as Spike, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Daniella Pineda as Faye Valentine and Alex Hassell as Vicious. The character of Ed has yet to be cast.
