Commissioner Gordon is coming to Gotham… once again.
Matt Reeves is slowly but surely putting together his cast for The Batman, and he has found the latest actor to take on the iconic role of Gotham’s police commissioner. THR is reporting that Jeffrey Wright is in talks for the role of Batman’s reluctant ally.
In recent screen appearances, Gary Oldman played the role in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, while J.K. Simmons brought Gordon to life in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Reeves will be directing from his own script for the Warner Bros./DC feature and will produce with his Planet of the Apes collaborator Dylan Clark. Robert Pattinson will play Bruce Wayne/Batman, with Jonah Hill also in early talks to play one of the film’s many villains.
Wright’s inclusion in The Batman makes him the latest actor to hold roles for both Marvel and DC Comics. Just last month, Marvel Studios announced that Wright will voice the character of Uatu the Watcher, in the What If..? series.
The Batman is set for a June 25, 2021, release.
