As if Jeffrey Wright signing on to play Commissioner Gordon wasn’t enough, we’ve already got our next bit of The Batman casting!
Deadline is reporting that Jonah Hill is in early negotiations for a villain role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman. The report states that a deal has not been finalized, and that the main thing holding it up is who exactly Hill will play.
Insiders suggest that Hill and WB are reportedly deciding between either The Penguin and The Riddler. Apparently, producers had long wanted Hill for the project, but casting decisions were put on hold until the role of Batman was filled. Robert Pattinson was then chosen as the latest actor to don the cape, and casting for the film’s other characters began shortly after.
Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics movie is expected to start this summer. No official production start date has been set, but our insiders point to the end of the year/early 2020 for a start.
The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
