Jurassic Park has forever been my favourite movie of all time. No film has ever come close to matching the sheer joy and wonder I feel when watching Steven Spielberg’s 1993 classic. When Jurassic World came out in 2015, I was disappointed that the original three leads, Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum, would not be returning. Now, 26 years and four sequels later, they’re all coming back!
Jurassic World production company Amblin Entertainment has announced that Neill, Dern, and Goldblum will all be reprising their iconic roles for Jurassic World 3. And not just that, but the three will star alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, instead of just cameo appearances.
It was Dern who actually first broke the news, revealing her participation in the film, as well as Neill’s and Goldblum’s returns, at a fan screening tonight of Battle at Big Rock. The eight-minute short film that Trevorrow directed and showed last night, features dinosaurs loose in the real world.
Colin Trevorrow is back to direct and production starts early next year. Spielberg also returns, alongside Trevorrow, as executive producers. Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising), penned the Jurassic World 3 screenplay with Trevorrow. They worked off a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who together co-wrote Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Both Laura Dern and Sam Neill last appeared in Jurassic Park III, although Dern’s appearance was much smaller compared to Neill’s starring role. Goldblum returned for the first sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and recently camoed in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Jurassic World 3 roars into theatres on June 11, 2021.
