‘Ozark’ Star Jason Bateman in Talks to Direct & Star with Ryan Reynolds in Disney/Fox’s ‘Clue’ Movie

Hot off his Emmy win on Sunday for Best Directing In A Drama Series for Netflix’s Ozark, Jason Bateman is involved in early talks to direct Ryan Reynolds in Fox/Disney’s live-action adaptation of the Hasbro board game, Clue. Bateman also plans to star in the film. Bateman is expected to develop the Clue script with Reynolds, who’s also serving as a producer

The original Clue, which released in 1985, was directed by Jonathan Lynn, who also co-wrote the script with John Landis. The film followed a group of characters who are invited to a mysterious dinner party and end up having to solve a murder. The cast featured actors like Tim Curry, Eileen Brennan, Michael McKean, Madeline Kahn, Christopher Lloyd, and Lesley Ann Warren. Since it’s release, the movie has garnered a bit of a cult following for its dark, slapstick humor, and innovate whodunnit ending.

Bateman has already begun production for the new season of Ozark and he’ll be directing two episodes of the show in Season 3, as well as reprise his role as drug cartel financial advisor Marty Byrde. Bateman is also directing the first two episodes of HBO’s adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, The Outsider.
