Disney Launches ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Oscar Campaign; No Best Actor Push for RDJ

Let the (end)games begin.

Disney officially launched its Oscars campaign for Avengers: Endgame. After becoming the highest grossing movie of all time, the mouse house looks to cap off its stellar year with a slew of nominations for the 23rd MCU film.

The studio is pushing for Best Picture as well as Best Director for Anthony and Joe Russo, Best Adapted Screenplay for Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, Best Cinematography for Trent Opaloch, Best Original Score for Alan Silvestri, Best Film Editing, Best Production Design,Best Sound Editing, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Visual Effects.

What is more surprising is that Robert Downey Jr. is not being pushed for a best actor nomination. Not to say that he does or doesn’t, but it is a surprising move, given how heavily the idea of Disney pushing for a nom was rumored.

With the categories that they are pushing for, it can be said that Disney is actually playing it quite safe (aside from best pic and best director). The visuals Endgame were stunning, the music was superb, and the writing was top notch.
