The second of two blockbuster castings, Matt Reeves has also found his Alfred Pennyworth for his upcoming Batman film.

Andy Serkis is reportedly re-teaming with his Planet of the Apes director to take on the role of Alfred Pennyworth in highly anticipated film, The Batman.

The film stars Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Batman ally Commissioner Gordon, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin.

The role of Alfred was most recently played by Jeremy Irons in the DCEU, appearing in Batman V Superman and Justice League. Before that, Michael Caine portrayed Alfred in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, while Michael Gough held the role through four films, from Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman to Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin.

Serkis joining the DC film universe marks the third superhero series he’s been a part of. He was recently named director for Sony’s upcoming Marvel film, Venom 2, and most recently starred in the MCU as Ulyesses Klae, starring in Avengers: Age of Ultron and Black Panther.
