Guardians of the Galaxy star Pom Klementieff is set to join the latest installment of in the Mission: Impossible franchise, joining Tom Cruise, who is reprising his role as Ethan Hunt. Hayley Atwell is also on board to star.
Christopher McQuarrie, the director of the last Mission: Impossible film Mission: Impossible- Fallout as well as 2015’s Rogue Nation, announced the news on Instagram on Tuesday, and will be returning to write and direct the seventh and eighth movies, which will be shot back-to-back. Paramount has dated the seventh film for July 23, 2021 and the eighth installment for Aug. 5, 2022.
2018’s Fallout was the best performer of the Mission: Impossible franchise, earning $791.1 million globally. The six films in the series have combined for $3.57 billion in worldwide box office.
Klementieff had her breakout role as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and has stayed busy with roles ever since. She’s starred in such films as Ingrid Goes West, A.I. Tales, the upcoming Uncut Gems, and was part of the voice cast of Sony Animation’s The Addams Family.
