The Batman has added yet another well-known name to its already impressive cast list. The director of the film, Matt Reeves, revealed on Friday that John Turturro would be joining the film as Carmine Falcone, who in the comics and past films has been a major underworld figure and an intimidating crime boss. Tom Wilkinson previously played Falcone in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins, while John Doman portrayed him on Fox’s Gotham.
As previously mentioned, Reeves has assembled an expansive cast for The Batman, including Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin. Jeffrey Wright will play Batman’s ally Commissioner Gordon and Andy Serkis will be appearing as Bruce Wayne’s reliable butler Alfred.
Turturro is a well-established actor, winning an Emmy for Monk, and earning Golden Globe nominations for Quiz Show and The Night Of. He has worked with a number of directors including Spike Lee for Lee’s film Do The Right Thing and The Coen Brothers on numerous movies, including The Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Warner Bros. is set to open The Batman on June 25, 2021.
