‘Lizzie McGuire’ Creator Terri Minsky Exits Disney+ Revival

In a day where Disney has already lost Scott Derrickson as director for Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness, the house of mouse has parted ways with another creative.

Terri Minsky has departed the Disney+ revival of Lizzie McGuire. She will no longer assume showrunner duties, and Disney is already on the hunt for a new leader.

“Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “After filming two episodes, we concluded that we need to move in a different creative direction and are putting a new lens on the show.”

That last line is interesting, as it makes for the argument that Disney is not satisifed with how the series is progressing creatively. Pure speculation here, but if the first two episodes showed Disney that they need a new creative direction, expect reshoots on said episodes.

The series follows Lizzie as she turns 30 and navigates life in New York City. With her animated 13-year-old ego by her side, Lizzie deals with the ups and downs of adulthood.

The revival will feature several other cast members reprising their roles, including Adam Lamberg (Gordo), Hallie Todd (Jo McGuire), Robert Carradine (Sam McGuire) and Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire).
