Amazon Announces Main Cast for ‘The Lord of the Rings’ TV Series

After a long wait, Amazon has officially announced the main cast of it’s Lord of the Rings TV series.

It was previously reported that Game of Thrones actor Robert Aramayo would star in the series in a leading role as Beldor, and this casting was confirmed on Tuesday during the Television Critics Association presentation, along with many others.

“After undertaking an extensive global search, we are delighted finally to reveal the first group of brilliant performers who will take part in Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings series,” showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay said in a statement on Tuesday.

Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman have also been confirmed.

Despite not even having been released yet, The Lord of the Rings has already been given an early season 2 renewal. J.A. Bayona, director of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, will be directing the first two episodes.

The TV series is set during the Second Age of Middle-earth and takes place long before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings book trilogy.
