New WarnerMedia streaming service HBO Max has just announced that an animated series titled Aquaman: King of Atlantis has been greenlit for the upcoming service. The announcement came at the 2020 Television Critics Association press tour on Wednesday.
The three-part mini-series will be executive produced by James Wan, the director behind the 2018 live-action hit, and based on the classic DC Comics character created by Mort Weisinger and Paul Norris. Along with Wan, the series is executive produced by Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, and Sam Register. Victor Courtright and Marly Halpern-Graser will serve as showrunners and co-executive producers.
Each of the episodes will have its own storyline but will all follow Aquaman in his adventures as the king of the sea. There’s been no confirmation on who will voice the aquatic superhero played who’s played by Jason Momoa in the live-action film universe.
There’s been no confirmation on a premiere date for Aquaman: King of Atlantis but HBO Max is expected to launch this spring.
