Filming has officially kicked off on Warner Bros’ highly anticipated superhero film, The Batman. Directed by Matt Reeves, the film will star Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse, Tenet) as the caped crusader.
In addition to Pattinson, the film boasts an ensemble cast c-starring as some of Batman’s most famous supporting characters, and infamous villains. These include Zoë Kravitz (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald) as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano (Love & Mercy) as Edward Nashton/The Riddler; Jeffrey Wright (Westworld) as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro (Transformers) as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard (The Magnificent Seven) as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson (Farewell Amor) as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; with Andy Serkis (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth; and Colin Farrell (Dumbo) as Oswald Cobblepot.
Reeves will also produce the film with Dylan Clark (Planet of the Apes rebooted films). Simon Emanuel, Michael E. Uslan, Walter Hamada and Chantal Nong Vo serve as executive producers.
Reeves’ behind-the-scenes creative team includes Oscar-nominated director of photography Greig Fraser (Rogue One, Dune); his Planet of the Apes production designer, James Chinlund; composer Michael Giacchino (Up, Planet of the Apes); editors William Hoy (Planet of the Apes rebooted films) and Tyler Nelson (Rememory); Oscar-winning VFX supervisor Dan Lemmon (The Jungle Book); Oscar-nominated SFX supervisor Dominic Tuohy (1917, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker); Oscar-nominated sound mixer Stuart Wilson (1917,); Oscar-winning costume designer Jacqueline Durran (1917, Little Women,) and costume designers Glyn Dillon (the Star Wars franchise) and David Crossman (1917); hair designer Zoe Tahir (No Time to Die, Spectre); and Oscar-nominated makeup designer Naomi Donne (1917).
The Batman is set to premiere in theatres on June 25, 2021, and is currently filming in London.
