Hot off his critically acclaimed film Jojo Rabbit, Taika Waititi and two-time Oscar nominee Jude Law are expected to be teaming up on The Auteur, a new TV series in development at Showtime.
No deals are currently in place as of yet and little is known about The Auteur, though it’s been described as a Hollywood satire that will examine the film industry through the eyes of an eccentric auteur filmmaker, who would be played by Law. Waititi would executive produce alongside Law and direct at least one episode.
Waititi has a full slate at the moment. The director is currently in post-production on the soccer comedy Next Goal Wins, he’s in the midst of leading Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder, he’s attached to write a Flash Gordon movie, and there are rumors that he’s been asked to direct a new Star Wars movie.
Law recently played Dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, and he also played Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel. Law can currently be seen opposite Blake Lively in The Rhythm Section, and he can be seen next in Sean Durkin‘s The Nest. Law is also expected to return for the third installments in the Fantastic Beasts and Sherlock Holmes franchises. In the world of TV, Law currently stars alongside John Malkovich in HBO’s The New Pope, and he’ll also be starring in HBO’s limited series The Third Day.
