Antonio Banderas isn’t slowing down following his Oscar nomination, as the actor has joined Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg in Sony’s Uncharted movie.
Sources close to Variety have told the trade that Sophia Ali and The 100 actor Tati Gabrielle have also been cast in the film. Venom director Reuben Fletcher is officially on board to helm the feature, making him the latest in a long line of directors to try and take on the project.
The long-awaited film will act as an origin story for Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter who journeys across the world to uncover various historical mysteries. Art Marcum and Matt Holloway penned the most recent draft of the script.
While it is unknown as to who who Banderas and Gabrielle will be playing, insiders say that Ali will be playing a character first seen in the video games.
Uncharted is set to release in theaters March 5, 2021.
