The dead will continue to make their presence felt on Netflix, as the streamer has renewed Black Summer for a second season.
Headlined by Jaime King, the eight-episode second season is slated to begin production in 2020 in Alberta, Canada. King is set to return as Rose and also will serve as a producer for Season 2. Also returning are Justin Chu Cary as Spears; Christine Lee as Kyungsun.
The series follows Rose, a mother who is separated from her daughter, six weeks after the Zombie Apocalypse ravages earth. Thrust alongside a small group of refugees in North America, she must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.
Black Summer is created and executive produced by Z Nation co-creator/executive producer Karl Schaefer and John Hyams. In addition to Hyams and Schaefer, fellow Z Nation alum Abram Cox also is a writer/executive producer on the show.
Back in April, Netflix revealed that Black Summer ranked as their most watched series in the U.K.
